The first of Nissan is considered the “New Year for K
ings” (it is from this date that the years of a king’s rule are counted) and is also the New Year for the order of the Festivals (Rosh HaShana 1:1).
In the Torah, Nissan is referred to as "the month of Spring"and as "the month of the redemption."
"In Nissan our forefathers were redeemed from Egypt and in Nissan we will be redeemed" (Rosh HaShana 11a).
